I didn’t qualify for weight loss surgery in the US because I was told my BMI wasn’t high enough.
Before coming to OCC, I was so tired of being “sick, tired, and overweight”. I had tried everything to lose the weight and nothing worked. I had always been active, healthy, and loved the way I looked until I started gaining weight around the age of 32. Before I realized it, I had gained close to 80-90 lbs. I felt lost, frustrated, and defeated. My husband and I both decided to have weight lost surgery (my husband has been overweight his entire life). So we went together to a doctor here in the states. When he told me that my BMI wasn’t high enough and insurance wouldn’t cover my surgery, but that I could eat more, gain weight, and then they would do the surgery…I was so angry! I told my husband that defeats the purpose and there was no way, I was going to gain more weight. So one of my girlfriends had been to OCC. I started doing my research, and that’s all it took. I booked my appointment and we traveled to OCC. It was the best healthcare experience I have ever had, and I even work in healthcare. I tell everyone about OCC, and if you are even remotely thinking about weight loss surgery. Just do it…I promise you won’t regret it!
